Until recently, I was a student, and technically I still should be. But I have an odd preference for the unexpected - I think it allows you to discover and create. So after finishing my BA's, I planned to do a year of jobs and internships, to get some work experience, to see, hear, feel as much as I could.
This blog started out as an account of my experiences in the working world. I am very happy with what I'm doing and how I'm doing it, and I hope to inspire some people to think outside the box every now and then, to get off the beaten track. Maybe you'll discover things about yourself you didn't know. Maybe you'll realise you have always wanted to do a certain thing, but somehow never went and did it. Or maybe you'll discover something completely new, something you've never thought about before, and find that that's what you want to do. I certainly hope I will.
It's also, however, a blog about the things I see and hear, the stories I pick up, the people I meet. Sometimes, on a job hunt, you can get very immersed in your own world. I'd prefer avoiding that - other people are always more interesting. So I'll also be gathering sounds, and I'll try to transmit them to paper/picture/screen. I'd like to see it as a practice for being less self-centred and more open to the world around me. I think a lot of us could use some practice in that, and that definitely includes me.
I hope you enjoy the results.
